Holidays
France is an excellent location for holidays and each year the country's population is swelled by a huge influx of visitors from all over the world. Holidays include skiing, sightseeing, and many more.

Location & Geography
France is bordered by several countries including Spain, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland. It is much less urbanised than the UK and the countryside is often beautiful or even spectacular. There are links to the regions of France on the right panel. Please click each link for more information.

The Weather
In general it is hotter than the UK. In the mountains such as the French Alps the winter brings snow and the summer is usually hot and dry. Summer 2003 saw one of the hottest summers on record. Spring and Autumn are usually good times to visit France with typically higher temperatures at these times than in the UK

Driving
In France people drive on the right. Most road signs are similar, but you should familiarise yourself with the signs you don't know. French motoways are often much quicker than the 'national' roads. However, you have to pay to use the motorways. It can be expensive so be prepared.

Documentation
You will need a passport, and you should carry it with you. UK passport holders do not need a visa.
