Famous for its wine, the Champagne region of France is a mixture of countryside, farming, forests, towns and industry. Historically it was significant during the ffirst world war and the French revolution

Main towns in the Champagne region are Chaumont (Haute Marne), Reims (Marne), Troyes (Aube), Charlevill-Mezieres (Ardennes)

Access
The area is very well served by motorways and rail. It is not as well served by air as some other parts of France

Champagne wine tasting, Reims Cathedral, Foret d'Orient (forest), the great lakes, the basilica of l'Epine

Wine tasting, boating, various sports including horse riding, golf, cycling and more

The Champagne region near the UK but pehaps not sufficiently close to attract large numbers of British. Prices are mid-range

Geographically Champagne fairly well situated in France if you intend travelling by car. If you want to visit the UK a lot you may find air travel not as convenient as elsewhere. If you are looking for spectacular scenery or warmer climates then there are better areas of France too.
